EADC Noseband Policy
Welfare of the horse is paramount — tap to read the policy and measuring guide. Nosebands must allow at least one finger's width and stewards can measure at any time.
Compulsory dress by level and technical faults for incorrect dress and equipment
Dress code varies by level — lower levels allow hacking jackets, while Advanced and above require tailcoats. Incorrect dress incurs 2-mark deductions per error.
Headgear and helmets
An approved safety helmet must be worn whenever mounted. Top hats are only permitted at Advanced and above, and a safety helmet must still be worn outside the arena.
Footwear
Riders must wear proper riding boots with a heel of at least 1.5cm. Long boots or jodhpur boots are permitted, with matching half-chaps allowed.
Gaiters
Matching gaiters are allowed at Preliminary to Novice only, and must look like a long boot. At Elementary and above, only proper long riding boots are permitted.
Spurs
Spurs are optional. If worn, they must be metal, smooth, pointing backwards, with shanks no longer than 4cm. Rowels must spin freely. Electric or sharp spurs are banned.
Whips
One whip up to 120cm may be carried in warm-up, but never during the test — carrying a whip in the arena means elimination. Misuse is a welfare offence.
Shirts and neck wear
A collared white or light shirt is required at all levels, with a stock tie or tie. Elementary and above require a white or cream stock tie. T-shirts and collared shirts are not permitted.
